"Engage me at your peril" - Diala PassilDiala Passil was a female Twi'lek and Jedi Padawan. Her master Shu Yen did not survive the execution of Order 66 - he was killed by Darth Vader on Yavin IV, but she did, his teachings helped her to escape execution and survive the Jedi Purge. Passil adhered to her master's teachings and fought the Galactic Empire as part of the Rebel Alliance.. Since her mentor's death Dark Side energy remained in the place of her mentor's death and was calling relentlessly for her to come back. Years later, during the Galactic Civil War, Passil acknowledged to herself that she won't be able to withstand the torment anymore and decided to visit Yavin IV and deal with her inner demons. She arrived to Yavin IV along with a team of Rebel sympathyzers. They traveled in silence, heavy mist settled about the forest. A pained expression crossed Diala's features, more than just the sorrow of returning here. They all felt the darkness as the drew near the place where Passil's Master died - the ruins of one of the ancient Massassi temples. They fought through Imperial stormtroopers and guards and finally reached the closed doors to the inner temple. When her companions tried to get near the doors, something repelled them back. They tried one more time but with the same result. But when Diala herself started her move toward the doors, nothing happened. Understanding that she must go alone, she instructed her friends to wait outside and keep watch and entered through the door into the inner sanctum. The doors shut behind her with a loud thud. She looked into the darkness - the ghostly figure of Shu Yen stood there. "Diala, please!" he cried "You must come back!". Screaming in agony, the spirit's form changed, flowing outward and taking the shape of a familiar, terrible foe. Instead of Shu Yen in front of her stood Darth Vader. Diala released a cry of sorrow and leapt forward to attack. She fought fiercly, as never before, parrying each strike and counter every move of her enemy. She counter attacked and lunged forward each time she saw the opening in Vader's defenses. It took all her inner strength and resolve, all the sorrow and pain, but she finally managed to strike a death blow - and the ghostly figure came down to the floor. Diala paused before the ghostly figure of her Master's killer, still not believing that she bested the Dark Lord of the Sith singlehandedly. She whispered - "Please, master, forgive me". And at her words the spirit vanished and the mist sank into the ground. The sense of darkness faded and all that remained was an object upon the nearby pedestal. She came to it and saw what was there - Shu Yen's lightsaber. She took it and with one final glance around left the temple. Her companions waited there and after she briefly explained to them what happened inside - it seemed that they didn't believ in all that she told them, they started back to their transport. Diala walked lightly, with her master's lightsaber in hand feeling peace inside her for a first time since Shu Yen's death. Read more... |
